Jewel wins on debut

Jewel Castle made her debut last night at Cranbourne and what a debut it was with her grabbing the lead in the last stride to capture a debut victory.

Confidence was high leading into the race as Jewel Castle had been trialling well but that confidence evaporated shortly after the start when she went into a gallop. Driver David Miles was able to get her back into a pace quickly and landed her in the 1x1 position.

The race tempo was very slow and it came down to a 400m sprint home. David pulled her out and let her go, it was a neck and neck battle all the way down the straight with Jewel Castle getting the nod from the judges box.

She not only earned the first prize money of $3,375 she also earned a $5,000 Vicbred Win Bonus...a very lucrative debut.

David and Lisa will be looking for another race for her early next week.
